RVU ACOP President Spotlight

September 20, 2017

Today we'd like to introduce Beau Condie! Beau is the President of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians club at Rocky Vista University. The Pediatric club helps students to foster interest in the field of pediatrics. It is part of a national organization to provide students with opportunities that will help prepare them to become excellent health care providers. The club has many different activities including skill workshops, community activities, service opportunities in the community, and speakers who come talk about various topics related to the club.

Beau is a Utah native from the town of Ivins located in the southwestern edge of the state. He graduated from Southern Utah University in 2015 with a degree in Biology. He married his wife Katie in 2016 and moved to Colorado to pursue medical school soon after. He enjoys the outdoors, music, movies, photography, and spending time with family. He may have also been a contestant on the Price is Right.

Why did you decide to be a part of this club?

Prior to starting medical school I always considered Pediatrics as a possible career. During my sophomore year of college, I began volunteering for a national organization called Camp Kesem, which supports children through and beyond a parent’s cancer. Serving these kids of various ages sparked an interest in me to pursue other opportunities to support children. The Pediatric Club offered opportunities to be involved in the community while serving the youth.

Why did you decide to be a DO?

The main draw for me in pursing a DO degree was the philosophy of a holistic approach to medicine. Having an interest in medicine and a love for service, I believed that pursuing training as a DO would allow me to see people as a whole and assist them in achieving a healthier and happier state of being.

Tell me about your experience at Rocky Vista

My time at Rocky Vista University has been an enlightening experience and one that has provided me with many opportunities to grow. The faculty are interested in our lives and my classmates have become some of my closest friends. Though the course load is demanding, I’m grateful for the quality education that I’m receiving at RVU.
